My darling forever first baby turned 8 years old today.  I am so proud of the sweet girl she has become.  She makes me laugh every single day and I love seeing what creative things and ideas she comes up with.  Her latest endeavor is "girl's club", which is not as exclusive as is sounds because Gavin and Michael have both been inducted.  She has constructed a "club" in our basement.  The wall is covered with drawings and rules related to "girl's club".  She has several members, including family, friends and pets.

For her birthday, we surprised her by telling her that we were going shopping, but instead took her to Dave and Buster's.  For those of you who don't know, Dave and Buster's is like Chuck-E-Cheese, but with good food and minus the singing mouse.  Here are some pics from the party.

I LOVE YOU PRINCESS!

Election burn-out!

Posted by Keely

No pictures - sorry. We did make it up to Boulder this past weekend and had a great time. I forgot my camera - of course. Other than that, I have spent a good amount of time obsessing about this election. I know that some of you reading this are MCain supporters, and I love you all, but I just don't understand you!!! I have come to the conclusion that I need to take a step back, turn off the t.v., and the CNN web news and focus on something else for awhile. I am TOO emotionally involved, and I am afraid that if November 5th comes and to quote Tina Fey, Sarah Palin is a "heartbeat" http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/clips/palin-hillary-open/656281/away from being President, I may just not get out of bed........ever... again. Really. Watch the clip - it is hilarious, and worth getting through the Crest commercial for.

In other news, Grace has made a great new friend from Georgia who just moved in down the street. They are in the same homeroom. Her parents are MCain supporters, but I will get over it :). Gavin is getting "humongous" (his word, not mine). Every time he eats, he stands on his chair and stretches his arms into the air and tells anyone who will listen about how big he is getting.
That is the latest. I'll post some pictures soon (as soon as I take some). I am now going to get off of the computer (without looking at the news), and do something non-election related. Wish me luck.

Obama at Invesco (DNC)

Posted by Keely

As most of you know, I was so excited for the DNC to be in Denver, and commited as soon as I heard that it was going to be here, that I was going to get in somehow. Well, I didn't realize at the time, that the convention is closed to all people except press and delegates. Since changing careers was not desirable, I decided that I would shoot for the delegate thing. I went to the Broomfield caucus back in February, and was going to volunteer to be a delegate for our precinct, but found out that I would have to attend many more events and I would only have a remote chance of making it to the DNC. Since Michael works so many hours, I decided against hiring a babysitter and taking time off of work in order to TRY and be a delegate. I would have to settle for hanging out downtown during the convention, and watching on t.v. . Well, Barack Obama had a brilliant idea to move the last day of the DNC outdoors and invite 30,000 Colorado residents to attend - yippee!!! Anyway, to make a long story short, I put in a lot of volunteer time with the Obama campaign (as did my mother), and we scored a couple of tickets!! Here are a few pictures from our adventure.

We got a great parking space from the friend of a friend's in-laws, and only had to take a 10 minute walk to the light-rail that dropped us off near Invesco Field.

Here I am with the Democratic Donkey during our walk to the Light Rail. Notice the Elephant doesn't have any friends.

I have to tell you that I was really looking forward to seeing all of the protesters that I had heard about on the news. Much to my dismay, there was not a protestor to be found. We had to settle for an end of the world guy, which was good, but not quite the protestor chaos that I was hoping for.

Here is the really long line that we waited in to get into Invesco.

Here is a pic of me and my mom in our seats. We were on the second row in the stands, which sounds great, but our view of the stage was obstructed by a huge curtain and speakers. We could easily see the Jumbotron, and had a great view of political well-knowns and movie stars coming in and out onto the field.

The view from our seats.

Two really cute ladies that we met - The Obama Twins.

Throughout the afternoon and evening we had many star sightings. I tried to get pictures of everyone, but as you will see from my shots, I am not the best photographer, and usually missed the shot all-together. Here are a few:
Mary J. Blige (blonde streaks with the sunglasses and hoop earings, sitting next to another lady with sunglasses). Notice her bodyguard in black sitting behind her staring me down.
Michael Dukakis (light pants, grey hair, hard to miss nose standing next to lady in pink)
This is a great shot of the the back of Fergie's head (blonde highlights next to the guy with dreads)

The top of Will.i.am's head. He looked right at me after I yelled, "I love you Will.i.am", but I still managed to miss the shot.

No, John Kerry is not running in this photo - I don't know how Michael takes such good pictures.

If anyone wants copies of these fantastic photos, just let me know :). I also have the back or top of heads of the following people: Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Michael McDonald, and Bill Ritter (Govenor of Colorado).
